She sees a stereotypical thug. He sees a spinsterish misfit.

If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most boring life, Millie Stephens knows she would hold the record. After the plain, strait-laced personal assistant is saved by a total stranger from becoming New York City’s latest traffic fatality, she has a disheartening epiphany her life’s highlight reel was nonexistent. Determined to step out of the shadows and take a walk on the wild side, she starts Millie-style—by making a list.

That total stranger, bad boy Ian Brand, could help Millie with one very important item on her list sex. But Ian is more than the sum of his parts—and he’s got some really great parts. Beneath that sexy, tattooed exterior is a man with a painful past who’s desperate to both hide and overcome his disability in the pursuit of his dreams.

Will Millie and Ian look beneath the surface and see there’s more to each other than meets the eye?

Dreams of Her Own Dreams Come True Book 3 eBook Rebecca Heflin

<yawn> *No*, I did not find this book boring--quite the contrary! I started reading "Dreams of Her Own" yesterday evening, thinking a chapter or two before bed would be relaxing. Silly me! I *should* have remembered how the two earlier books in this series had drawn me in with their compelling characters, writing and story line. "Dreams of Her Own" fully lives up to the promise of the preceding books--and may well be the best one yet! Sooo, here I am yawning, having finished at 1:30am (knowing I had to get up at 6!) . . .

I am a sucker for "ugly duckling" stories, and this one is *terrific*. We've met our heroine, Millie Stephens, in the two previous books. Loved by her few close friends, she's the brilliant bookworm who entirely effaces herself by wearing big, bulky, *brown* clothing, so that the first time he sees her--and saves her life--Ian (our hero) thinks she is a little old lady. Anyone who suffered through adolescence will understand why Millie chose to "be invisible". Ms. Heflin's writing shows the events so vividly that the reader may wish to reach into the book and strangle a couple of Mean Girls. When she emerges from her chrysalis, you delight with her and want to cheer.

Our hero (despite being so mouth-wateringly manly that readers should be warned that drooling may occur) bears not only very erudite tattoos, but scars from his past that make trusting relationships very difficult. He's a skilled carpenter, operating a successful contracting business that specializes in restoring historic buildings. Oh, and he rides a "Death Machine" (motorcycle). Although Millie pigeon-holed him as a thug, she discovers that he has hidden depths, just as Ian discovers the same about her. The journey of how these two find their way to each other is one *great* ride (which even involves riding that Death Machine).

I read a lot of romances, and Ms. Heflin (whose other books have won awards) stands on equal footing with the stars of the genre. Highly recommended.

Dreams of Her Own Dreams Come True Book 3 eBook Rebecca Heflin Reviews

Are you in the mood for a fairy tale romance between two people who are the total opposite of one another? If so, then pick up a copy of Dreams of Her Own by new to be author Rebecca Helfin. This book is replete with longing, friendship and discovery, in addition to a cast of secondary characters who are quite meaningful. This is the third book from the author's Dreams Come True series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I definitely plan on reading more from Ms. Helfin.

In order to not call attention to herself, Millie Stephens prefers to dress in all brown. As the assistant to a successful romance author, she is rarely seen by many outsiders, and she feels comfortable in her dowdy, neutral clothes. Millie loves her boss and her boss's family, and they treat her very well. Then business owner Ian Brand pops into her world, and her less than exciting life begins to turn around.

From the outside, Ian is the epitome of a tough guy. He is tattooed, good-looking, and rides a motorcycle. He is super talented and his restoration company keeps him busy. Like Millie, he believes falling in love is not in his future. However, after saving Millie's life on more than one occasion, a spark begins to ignite between them. Ian is working on the nursery in Millie's boss's home, so they see each other every day. Once they divulge a secret or two, they are able to commit to each other.

I truly liked this book and the emotional plot is both sweet and sexy. Ms. Helfin writes with a lot of passion, and as a result, I felt Millie and Ian's emotional discoveries deep within my soul. I loved Ian especially, because he was caring, gentle, and able to make his life a success, in spite of his troublesome childhood. This story temporarily took over my stressful world and left me completely joyful.

Read all three in the Dreams Trilogy while on vacation. Great fun, good characters.
Lovely story of how a mousey inexperienced almost 30 yr old woman meets handsome construction business owner. Her life is spent trying to be invisible but solvent in ways. She is successful as a PA to a renowned author. He has yet to really connect with someone completely as his secret holds him back. Together they have something but it may not last as insecurities come out. Enjoyed reading this. Have not read the others in the series and this can be read as a stand alone.
No spoilers here! Once again Ms.Heflin treats us to another wonderful story about two people you can really care about. Hot, SO funny, and well-developed dialogue - and of course, a great HEA. Beyond the romance are two very seemingly opposites that experience their own journey of self-discovery and growth. Millie, who is so cerebral,(hilarious internal ongoing commentary with herself) trying to break out of a self-imposed protective cage. Then there is Ian (yummy) who is one “bad boy” on the outside, struggling with some inside demons as well. We get to see some of our favorite characters from the first 2 books! I think these books should be read in order to get the full appreciation of all the characters and understand an added “mysterious” thread throughout. What I think is a standout for Ms. Heflin is that her story telling continues to be fresh and delights the reader with much intelligence and humor and the chance to lose myself in her book for a little while.
